It has recently been brought to our attention that some unsuspecting customers have tried to purchase the RL1100 and RL1500 vehicles directly from Chinese Trading Companies that claim to be the manufacturer.
JMC Motors is the only US importer of RL1100 and RL1500 vehicles. JMC developed the US EPA compliant RL1100 and RL1500 design and completed the exhaustive EPA emissions testing processes that certified these vehicles for import into the US as JMC vehicles. Other non-certified and non-compliant variants of the RL1100 and RL1500 are advertised on Alibaba and other websites, but they are not compliant and cannot be legally imported into the US. Illegal importers of non-compliant RL1100 and RL1500 vehicles risk large fines and confiscation of the vehicles at the dock. Before buying motorized vehicles directly from a foreign country always ask to see a copy of their MSO and the EPA/CARB certificates, vehicles cannot be imported without these. They must also have and be recognized with a WMI World Manufacturing Identifier; this will be the first three digits of the VIN number.
Recently we have been made aware of Chinese trading companies engaging in additional fraudulent practices beyond just placing an unsuspecting US customer at risk of fines and vehicle confiscation. These customers have paid money upfront and then the vehicles were never even shipped from China. So beware of fraudulent companies and remember if it sounds too good to be true then it probably is not.
